BIG THICKET MUSHROOM WALK JUNE 13, 2009

A mushroom walk was held Saturday, June 13 at the  Big Thicket National Preserve (BTNP) Field Research Station (FRS), in Saratoga TX. We forayed into the Lance Rosier Unit of the BTNP, to assist with the All Taxa Biodiversity Inventory (ATBI) species list for the Preserve.  We enjoyed lunch at the FRS, where we discussed the mushrooms found.  Due to the drought conditions, we found few fleshy fungi.  This made time for us to hear a presentation on "Bats in the Preserve". Participants included GSMS members Stephanie Baggett, Tina Davies, Heinz Gaylord, Eric Henao & guest, David & Patricia Lewis, John Soileau, Phillip & Alexandra Tussing, Brooks & Bernadine Young, and 25 non-members.
